What Is The Difference Between These Builds?
« on: April 23, 2012, 06:22:39 pm »
Can someone explain what the difference between these two builds is, or point me in the right direction? They both have the same number (36883) and date, and they seem to be the same size, or very close to the same size.

ftp://newwiki.freepascal.org/pub/lazarus/snapshots/lazarus-1.1.36883-20120423.laz.i686.rpm
ftp://newwiki.freepascal.org/pub/lazarus/snapshots/lazarus-0.9.31.36883-20120423.laz.i686.rpm

Thanks,
Rails

0.9.31 is a snapshot over 0.9.30, which would eventually become 0.9.32 or 1.0, while 1.1 is a branch over 1.0, which would eventually become 1.2 (despite the fact that 1.0 hasn't come yet).

I assume the fixes branch still has version 0.9.31, to not confuse people with multiple 1.0 versions?

I should have phrased my question more clearly. Is there are any particular reason why someone might choose to install one version instead of the other?

Thanks,

One who just needs bug fixes would choose fixes version, one who also wants new features (and therefore new bugs) chooses the other.
