[OT] firebird and Ubuntu

I can't install firebird on my Ubuntu 5.10 (debian like).
Download rpm file, I converted  file with alien (alien fir*.rpm), after i wrote dpkg -i fir*.deb.
But the service of firbird is not active (i wrote top vut I did'nt see the firebird service).
Can you help me?

I installed firebird in Ubuntu 5.04 using Repositories packages. Can't you find the deb's ?

I hope now it is installed, but i don't Know how to start the firebird's service and i don't know the like tool isql

Install via Synaptics (firebird2 CS or SS + firebird2 utils(CS or SS), examples, dev)
then: as root
cd /usr/lib/firebird2/bin
fbmgr
start

isql

sudo su
/usr/lib/firebird2/bin/isql
