THIS FORUM: Post verification system is ridiculous

Doesn't anybody find it ridiculous that when making a post on this forum, one has to type
6 random letters, then "Lazarus spelled backwards" and finally "1+2= in text"?

Especially because the second two things never change!!  >:(

I've been on numerous forums but never saw something as stupid as this.
Is that your method of discouraging people from posting questions?

Rails:
Get your post count up a little, and you won't have to worry about it.   :D

User137:
What's the posting limit to that? There was no random letter confirmation when i started  :)

Not sure but I think it's 5. IIRC it was introduced earlier this year when there were a lot of problems with drive-by spammers / bots...

Dirk.

Rails:
It is almost certainly to block spam bots. IMHO, it beats having all posts from new members approved by a moderator, which is done on some forums.
