LazPaint in Mac OS X
« on: July 16, 2011, 09:19:51 am »
Hello,

The wiki says that LazPaint works in Mac OS X: http://wiki.lazarus.freepascal.org/LazPaint

But I just downloaded it with the latest Lazarus and compiled and the buttons are far too small and I couldn't paint anything and the menus were frozen too =(

Any ideas?

thanks,

I've modified the wiki by adding a remark that MacOS version is experimental.

I don't have MacOS, so I have only taken Mac users remarks into account.

The same problem when I compiled and run in ubuntu 11.04.

I think is because LazPaint use fixed font sizes.

Edit: or maybe the ScaleDPI procedure.

I've put fixed font size to be sure of the size when it is not scaled. I'm suppose scaleDPI is not used on MacOS.

But the problem seems more serious : frozen menus and no drawing at all.

@circular

You've tried to compile an older LazPaint release in MacOS X or Ubuntu 11.04?

Maybe the way used to create the forms is the problem.

Maybe not related to talking about here.

My case, I use osx for study program language.(mainly vala, recently ruby)
Homebrew package manager is useful, but still not enough package.
I'm interested with shikhalev's ppruby. Do you think about lazpaint scripting support? (like a python for gimp or blender...)

Yes, I'm thinking about a scripting language. Carver413 is working on a scripting language, so we may add his language to LazPaint.

ppruby is an adaptation of Ruby for FreePascal ? That sound interesting.

Latest version 5.4 is designed to be compatible with MacOS. You need to remove the dependency to LNetVisual, it does not work on Mac OS, so there is no update checker. But everything else should be fine.
