Can't connect to database (URGENT)

Hi guys and girls,

I have a problem..
I am using a TPQConnection on a form and when i put the Connected option on the Property box on 'True', appears a box with the following error:

PQConnection1: Connection to database failed(PostgreSQL:fe_sendauth: authentication type 5 not supported)
 
can somebody help me? Please?

I have postgresql installed on my machine and i am trying to connect to a database locally...

All answers are very welcome

what version of postgres do you have installed as it sounds like a version conflict

I've installed the 2.2.4 version of Free Pascal...

What version of Postgres? Version 8.x, 9.x? You have to be specific.

It´s the 9.0.4-1 windows version of postgreSQL

It would be a good idea to upgrade to the latest stable Lazarus vesion (0.9.30 with FPC 2.4.2).

Like eny said, update your version of Lazarus & try to connect to your database again.
