I posted a similar query in another forum but perhaps not the correct one, this one seems better, apologies if this upset the system.

I am teaching myself conversion to Lazarus and writing a component that needs a file-finding ellipsis put into the ObjectInspector/Published properties of the component.  I have no problems with putting in a standard TFilename field but can't find a way to insert the ellipsis/file-locating facility.  Any pointers to a tutorial/code snippets much appreciated.

You need a TFileNamePropertyEditor, see ideintf/propedits.pp for its definition
and do a grep on the sources to find how to use it.

Thank you for that.  I've read the unit file and found TFileNamePropertyEditor and now need to 'grep on the sources' as you say, to find out how to use it.   I've tried to find out what 'grep' is and it seems to be some sort of Unix search engine but quite what 'sources' I need to study I have not so far discovered.  Could you spare the time to describe those 'sources' and where they are, so I can study them, and also if possible point me to some sample code?
