Need Email component for Lazarus
« on: November 19, 2010, 07:44:36 pm »
I need a component or library to open an IMAP Email account and detach and/or read the contents of a .txt attachment from Emails in the account.

The account is currently IMAP but I think it could be re-set up as POP3.

My search has not found such a component, does anybody know of one?

Thanks,

Steve

Try using Indy, I used it for send mails to hotmail, gmail, enterprise mail servers, etc.

http://www.indyproject.org/Sockets/fpc/index.en.aspx or Synapse.

Indy for me works fine for windows and linux.

Thank you for that lead. I have looked at the Indy port to Lazarus but I can only see how to send emails. Unfortunately I need to receive them from a mailbox to process emails that have been sent to me from another system (over which I have no control!).

Thanks

Steve

Hi again; this spanish blog explain how you can read mail with Indy, maybe some functions or procedures don't work in the same way, maybe need to read help documentation.

Look at http://wiki.lazarus.freepascal.org/Indy_with_Lazarus
then "converted indy 10 demos".

There is a pop3 demo project inside archive.
