3 database approcahes! any documentation?
Aki:
here are firebird components that are available (at least the ones that are free):
1. FBLib (http://fblib.altervista.org/)
2. FIBL (http://sourceforge.net/projects/fibl)
3. the one included in Lazarus (w/c, unlike the first two, needs the dataaccess compnonent to function)
Inquiry:
i believe it is better to use the first two as they would get access to firebird directly. however, there seems to be not enough documentation and examples to use them. can somebody please write one?
also, when compling FIBL (in windows), an error occurs, with the "value" variable. compiling always gets that mistake. help please.
thanks!
hombergs:
Youn have forgotten 2 components:
4. UIB (http://www.progdigy.com/)
and
5. Zeos (http://sourceforge.net/projects/zeos)
The Zeos CVS (module zeosdb_rework) contains the actual Version running under Lazarus Win and *nix.

You need more fresh version of fpc/lazarus with variant support. Try to download last snapshot from http://www.ca.freepascal.org/Lazarus/

FIBL has very nice "inherited" documentation. See "Original FIBC manual" at http://sourceforge.net/projects/fibl/.
Anonymous:
FIBL is great! But is it still being developed?
I tried a Feature Request on http://sourceforge.net/projects/fibl but there is no reaction.
It would be great if FIBL goes on because to me it is the best Firebird component for Lazarus at this moment!
Thanks,
Edu
