Title: New user introduction

Hello everyone

Yesterday I registered here.
Although I have been looking here for a subforum/thread, where newly registered users can say Hello, I did not see such a location here.
Please excuse me if that  Miscellaneous » Other is not the correct one, if yes then perhaps a moderator may move my post.

I want to become familiar with Lazarus and FreePascal and meanwhile have found the downloadable docs.
Questions may arise, but I think here are many helpful people.

What I do not want to forget, that is:
Big thanks to all developers of Lazarus/FreePascal and to others who maintain it. Wonderful work. That's a credit you deserve  :) .

Hello Epand,
Welcome to the forum.

Lazarus/FPC are awesome tools to develop software. The more you learn it the more you will like it.

Thank you very much for the nice greeting  :) !

My first question will deal with limits of filehandling, no database, but only one very simple file of huge size.
As I have been viewing the forum structure I did not find a subforum for such a question, I only saw Programming -> Databases (http://forum.lazarus-ide.org/index.php/board,16.0.html).

Which hint would you give me where to place a post with a topic e.g. “Simple file, but of huge size”?
Here in “Miscellaneous -> Other”? Or – as I will write the application on a Windows 10 Pro system – in “Free Pascal -> Windows”? Or an other subforum?

Hello Michael, welcome.

As far as your question about "simple file, but of huge file size", I would put it in Programming/General.
