Porting Windows Application to Linux
« on: June 29, 2010, 10:44:01 am »
I have used Linux for some time, and it seems to me that porting applications from Windows is a frequent activity. (I use amd64 Ubuntu 10.04.) I have a small amount of experience with Pascal, but no previous experience with Lazarus.

The source code for a statistical package, LazStatsSrc.zip compiles successfully on Windows, and I am hoping to build a native Linux port. Removing Windows from "uses" allows me to get further, and filenames must be changed to match case in Linux, but this has not resolved issues. Is there a guide for new users of Lazarus attempting such tasks, for many people must be attempting to do such things?

There seems to be a Linux version of LazStats already. The page:
http://statpages.org/miller/LazStats/
says:
The zip file labeled LAZSTATSLX.zip contains the Linux version of LazStats.
The zip file labeled LAZSTATSLXSRC.zip contains the source code for the Linux version

Mostly Lazarus trunk and FPC 3.2 on Manjaro Linux 64-bit.
