run it like this.
cd /the/dir/with/the/samplecfg
./samplecfg .

So the problem seem to be that it couldn't create the fpc.cfg in /etc (that is strange anyway).

Maybe the alienating removed the last part of the rpm script which runs samplecfg to create the fpc.cfg file.
