"Database not assigned" error and empty DB file (SQLite3)

When I'm trying to use SQLite3 connection (trying to "SELECT" something from the database file) I receive "Database not assigned" error. Before selecting, I tried to create some tables, but I noticed that nothing is being written to the file I selected.
