As an experienced user or Delphi, some years ago - coming back to my past best pasttime.
I just wanted to say many thanks to every body involved in the Lazarus project, this a great solution, running as well as the original ! Smiley

Then, thanks, thanks, thanks... Grin

Just remind me that today, is the official dying day for Borland. Sad

Just remind me that today, is the official dying day for Borland. Sad

It is a sad news.
It has been 12 years since I became a fan of Delphi and C++ Builder. Still remember the countless hours writing my little fun programs and enjoyed every single minute. It is really tragical that a great company like Borland, who created the best, IMHO, programming model and the most efficient IDE so far, failed in the market. Fortunately, thanks to the developers to Lazarus, now I can continue my fun and faith to the component-oriented programming model (a C++ version of Lazarus would make it even merrier  Smiley ).

Who wants to make (and of course, maintain) it? Just FYI, though still in very early stage, LCL can already be used by C programs. See LCL Bindings.

It is just my dream; perhaps nobody at all, or maybe myself someday Smiley if I have enough time to dig into Lazarus (which I doubt).

It sounds interesting, but to me, to use a familiar IDE and application framework is more important than dedicate to C/C++ language. That's why I am picking up Object Pascal and use Lazarus after long being a C++Builder fan.

Just to let you know that I use Lazarus/FPC every day for the company I work for.
I'm a developper in a small company where I've been working for 11 years. I started with Delphi in 1998 and now am using Lazarus since last year.
I also spend some time converting my existing applications from Delphi to Lazarus and it's a lot of work, but I am very happy to see that I have almost no problem.
It's almost as good as Delphi :-)

So I also say Thank You for that wonderful thing  Cheesy

IMO, Borland without Philippe Kahn for vision and Anders Hejlsberg for technical genius never amounted to much. This is another example of corporate America misunderstanding what high tech business is about.

A few geniuses are sufficient to get a company world fame.
And not just turbo pascal, turbo c was also great product.
