The option other is missing in the poll.

Personally, I like the *concept* of the "simplified" icon.

Some people call it childish, but it's not about being childish, rather than being "Easily recognisable".  Trying to fit a cheetah in a 16x16 block doesn't really work (even though whoever did it did a stirling job!)

Personally, I like the paw... round one...

Could we associate some meaning with the four claws? Add another (exceptional!) one?

E.g. open source, platform independence, machine independence...
... all spreading out from a single(?) tool: Lazarus (or: based on FPC?)

I agree!.. The "Blue trace" (simplified icon) has the right to life! IMHO

My opinion is one extension, one icon:

For no reason I would delete the old cheetah, the one Vincent said.
I totally dislike the blue and orange icons

Nobody discussing default lazarus application icon: cheetah paw.

We are discussing an IDE icon. They are different.

I've updated the wiki, with the paw icons 16x16, and the big one...

btw. I just edited the file from the Lazarus/images folder in gimp.

The .ico file includes 5 or 6 sizes of the same icon.

If the paw icon is chosen, new default application has to be created. IMHO, the paw is a great default application icon, because it shows the foot print of the cheetah, i.e. here the cheetah has been working. I would not want to loose that. Better find something else for Lazarus itself.

Thanks a lot, but I removed the icon from the wiki page, because as Vincent said, the icon is already used

Whilst it doesn't seem that hip, I quite like the blue one.

Must confess tho', my favourite would be the paw on a button (as used for applications), but if a differentiation could be made - such as a glow around the edges or different colour button (green or sandy/dusty for the sveltland?). Bear in mind that earlier versions of Delphi had very similar icons for IDE and default application icons, so there is prior art (as it were)...

If I get a chance I'll have a go at altering the glowing paw button (can't make promises, it's a bit naughty taking the time to post here with my current schedule!)

Ok, now I am getting totally confused. Maybe my IQ is to low to understand , I don't know.
I remember I ever saw that cheetah paw icon (the blue one above) on my PC somewhere once with Lazarus, now I cannot find it (WHERE IS IT???).
Exactly what do you mean with IDE icon, do you mean lazaurs.exe (or startlazarus.exe) ???
Illuminate me :-)
If you just mean the lazarus.exeicon, still I would prefer the cheetah Vincent said, and maybe use the paw for the .LPR and the rest like I said above.

I understand, but it seems to me, that it is a good variant for IDE including!

Sorry, I don't see why the IDE's icon has to be different from the default application's?

Isn't Lazarus, kinda made with Lazarus?  Or just by FPC?

comeon, the 'realistic' cheetah- icon is ugly.
It looks more like a stray cat in pain. And it could apply to all kinds of programs.
Can someone high in ranks veto that if it's turning out to be that one?
I really like the first two.
Why? Stylish. Clever look, of intelligence. You instantly see it's a cheetah face, but it's simple at the same time and fits the project.
