Mandriva2009, incomplete usr/bin/make message
« on: January 30, 2009, 11:38:10 am »
Hello,

Today I wanted to install Lazarus 0.9.26. I downloaded all the files in "Lazarus Linux I386 RPM" and installed them. But when I wanted to install Lazarus, I got the message :

Some packages can't be installed: Lazarus 0.9.26-0.i386 (because of incomplete usr/bin/make), proceed with installation?  (This is a translation from the Dutch message, so the English message could be somewhat different).
What is wrong, and what should I do?

Willie

I think you don't have the package that contains /usr/bin/make. It is required by Lazarus.

You need to install gnu make - look for package make in software management.  While you are at it, you will also have to install a package containing "ld" - I used package gcc for this.

Added: Also install libXi-devel, otherwise you will get an error about ld not finding -lXi when compiling.

You can also have a look at http://wiki.lazarus.freepascal.org/Installing_Lazarus

Hello,

Thanks, I was indeed missing the packages you mentioned.
I also installed the libXi-devel, allthought this was not mentioned in the wiki.

Thanks again.
