Lazrus on Cubieboard
« on: October 16, 2018, 04:02:34 pm »
Hi all
Can anybody guide me to install Lazarus on a Cubieboard 1, running Ubuntu (Linaro) ?

I have managed to install it on a Raspberry PI 2, no problem

Thanks in advance

Try to install it from the repositories (apt-get install)
I know that fpc works. never tested lazarus.

Linaro is NOT Ubuntu, it is based on Ubuntu, which is in itself based on Debian, but the Ubuntu and Debian repositories contain Freepascal (FPC) and Lazarus for arm and armhf.
I know that FPC installs just fine (sudo apt-get install). I never installed Lazarus on cubies. ( It has a "different" kind of quality as opposed to Raspberry Pi's, just like Orange Pi)

About the other post: YOU asked the same question twice! (Which is not done!)
Martin was so kind to merge the two posts...

Note that specifically the graphics on a Cubieboard are dead slow compared to a Raspberry Pi. The hardware says otherwise, ... but the distribution is not sufficiently making use of its potential.
Which also means I wish you good luck if you want to run Lazarus... As I said FPC works great. The lesser boards have more processing power in theory only, or for low-level people.
Raspbian is highly optimized for the hardware it supports.

I consider the two Orange Pi's a - very - bad buy:utterly useless and no real support.
I consider the (just one) Cubieboard that I have a good buy for server purposes only.

Note Fedora runs a lot better than Ubuntu (and probably its derivatives)  to my experience.
