Lazarus Wiped Out During OpenCV Upgrade
« on: August 22, 2018, 01:39:29 am »
Hey gang - I just ran a script to upgrade OpenCV to ver. 3.4 and noticed "fpc" mentioned a few times on the terminal during this process. Now Lazarus is gone from my start menu (linux mint) and seems to be gone, in general, from the computer. Oh well - I can easily reinstall it from the previously downloaded deb files (ver. 18.0). But maybe I'll go with the latest. Lazarus is my favorite IDE !!   :)

Update - all is well. I had to remove an existing installation of fp using Synaptic Package Manager. I kept getting errors about an existing fp installation. However once that was done the deb files from Source Forge did a clean install of Lazarus 1.8.4. I'm happy. Just wanted to share. Have a nice day.

Maybe you should do version locking to prevent this problem to happen again in the future.

I use Synaptic to do version locking, this is how I do it (step #41..#43):

Note:
I now version lock fpc only, so far no any issue.

You can also do version using apt-mark hold, suggested by @vangli:
