No im not against Firebird,I like it but I want to hear about experience in real job from someone like Graeme .
Here was my out-of-the-box experience of MySQL - tested under FreeBSD, Linux and Windows.

I still stand with my statement: "MySQL is a joke!"

Hello.
I made another tool for Firebird. Unfortunately, I do not have time to continue working on it. So I am considering sharing program sources.
If you find a person who will continue the work on TurboBird, then maybe this person will also want to develop this project.
My project is an application for analyzing database statistics.
home page: http://fb-tools.net
There is web-based version of the project (in early stage, proof of concept):

and example statistics:

Taaz has become the leader of TurboBird development, and he has moved the project source to sourceforge:

Thanks to some threads here I'm becoming curious about the possibility to use Firebird instead of Sqlite, but moving, these days, to SourceForge is a little bit strange.  %)

why do you know any other site with better or longer track record? They have proven they are here to stay and as far as I can see they are not going anywhere any time soon. What is so strange about solid and stable service?

EDIT:
As a thank you for the community's support so far I invite any one interested on the project to pm me with any questions, observations, wishes, complains or what ever else you want. I'm also looking for some one with any experience setting up a custom site in sourceforge that has some time.

Well, recent problem which lasted quite long show that their service is not as solid and reliable as it was.

Moreover, after years of providing nice service they commercialized a lot, pages are full of ads, change of ownership, bundling malware/adware with installers  upto taking over accounts of open-source projects...

Of course, you're free to use whatever suits you and I'm also curious about the project becoming  interested for Firebird, but I simply do not know about any project moving to SF these days (I'm at SF since 2003), just the opposite.  ;)

I have started development of TurboBird in 2009, and since long time I didn't add any important feature to it. Lately BigChimp has helped this project by making huge internal redesign and adding new features.

Due to my starting of my own software development company I didn't find any time to return to this project, specially that I moved to MySQL instead of FireBird. MySQL has a good solution for master/slave redundancy and has ability to work with huge data.

http://code.sd/products/turbobird/

If anyone want to take the ownership of development of this project it will be more than welcome. It is available in GitHub:
https://github.com/motaz/turbobird

For firebird side there will be an engine based  replication solution in firebird 4.0 (2016) , there are also third party solutions

Because you have exprence I want to ask why you moved to MySQL? FireBird clame that it can work with huge data and its very ligh.

Why not PostgreSQL?  I have used Firebird, mysql and Postgresql beats them all.  I even wrote a PostgreSQL admin tool that I lost interest in after 10 years :-)

If I forget, I always use the latest stable 32bit version of Lazarus and FPC. At the time of this signature that is Laz 3.0RC2 and FPC 3.2.2

1) Doesn't have and embed version.
2) Doesn't have a single file database
3) Its not suited for single user application (pim, contact manager, personal accounts)

You get the point I guess. Technickal superiority is not the only thing that one uses to choose. for example a motorcycle is technically  superior to a bicycle but I do not thing that you would buy one for your 5 year old.

I have a system that contains two databases, MySQL and Firebird. MySQL table reaches about 50 Million record and it works fine, but Firebird becomes very slow and hang the system up when the table reaches hundreds of thousands of records, also I noticed that it consumes more CPU than MySQL.

Firebird is working well out of the box . This is not the case for big data.

In my company we host a client database with 144 Tables, which is 67GB and has 96774338  records in one ( out of the 6 biggest ) table ( just runned a query )  . It's a FB 2.1.7 CS running in a Linux box with 6GB RAM in a RAID 10 ( 6 HDD 7200 no SSD ).  Running without a glitch for " 08:42:47 up 78 days, " and top reports :

Code: Pascal  [Select][+][-]
  1. top - 08:44:31 up 78 days, 20:14,  1 user,  load average: 0.00, 0.16, 0.26

Hello
motaz/taaz the turbobird project is stalled ?

- After 4 years, I pull request a fix for turbobird  :). (issue #33)
  in https://github.com/motaz/turbobird
- The binaries for linux 32 are from an old version, not 1.2.0

Regards

On my part yes its stalled. Hopefully I'll be able to continue one day but it needs a lot of rework and I might end up scrapping it altogether for a new beginning.

I never made any releases so only motaz can answer those.

For TurboBird 32 bit Linux, currently I have only 64-bit version of Linux.
For 32 bit Linux compilation you could get the source of 1.2.1 from GitHub:

https://github.com/motaz/turbobird

and you need Synapse package to compile it
