Play *.wav on Linux
« on: April 29, 2018, 01:21:56 pm »
Hi guys, is there a simple way to play a *.wav file on Linux?
I found this http://wiki.freepascal.org/TPlaySound but I do not know how can I install it.
Any (step by step) help?

You can use Online Package Manager:
Lazarus main menu > Package > Online Package Manager > tick the checkbox PlaySoundPackage > click Install > wait some minutes, your IDE will be restarted

Unfortunately I don't have "Online Package Manager" in the menu.

Online Package Manager is available for Lazarus 1.8.0 and above. It seems you're using Lazarus version below 1.8.0. It's time to upgrade.

But if you want to try manual install a package:
Lazarus main menu > Package > Open Package files (.lpk) > browse to the location and select the package (.lpk file) > Compile > wait some seconds, then Use > Install > you will be asked to rebuild the IDE, answer yes and wait some minutes then your IDE will be closed.

Note:
SourceForge currently is down for download.

I'm using 1.8.2  :)

First install the Online Package manager from the default repository and then install the Sound package with OPM.
And you may want to upgrade to 1.8.4. anyway (with FPC 3.0.4)

Thank you guys for the help!
OPM installed, PlaySound installed and working well!  :)

@Thaddy: is there 1.8.4? I only can see 1.8.2 at Lazarus home page
