TMetaFile under Linux
« on: April 04, 2018, 04:27:31 pm »
Hi,
I am trying to print something using HtmlViewer under Linux. It needs TMetaFile, so it does not work.
Could you possibly tell me if there is or is going to be any Lazarus update allowing to use TMetaFile?
I am using Lazarus 1.6.2, HtmlViewer 11.8.

Thank you in advance

Not in the foreseeable future, no. There where discussions for an lcl internal format that mimics windows metafile in the past, with a proof of concept implementation, but it stopped there. There is a chance to adapt the metafile that comes with htmlviewer to use the linux emf library but I haven't seen any efforts in that front at all.

OS : Windows 7 64 bit
Laz: Lazarus 1.4.4 FPC 2.6.4 i386-win32-win32/win64

Just a note here...

I have an app where I used to support the TMetafile format but commented it out because at the time
there were buffer over runs being deposited on users computers via that format as one of the vehicles of
transporting funny code..

Just thought those that may care would like to know  :)
