Maybe the behavior is correct for older version of FPC (as mentioned by Lutz Mändle on
post #9
). But it is clear that the documentation is now no longer correct for FPC 3.0.4. So I submitted a bug report:

That's the right behaviour according to the actual implementation, but you are right the documentation is at least misleading and in my opinion wrong.
