fpc 3.3.2-1 vs 3.2.2-10
« on: January 19, 2024, 03:29:05 pm »
I have just setup a Fedora 38 system and as I have done many times before, I downloaded the three packages for Lazarus and installed them. This included fpc 3.2.2.-1
I needed to update another package so I tried to do an update using dnf as normal.

To my surprise, it reported that there was a later version of fpc in the fedora repositories. (3.2,2-10)
Is there any conflict if I remove the downloaded packages and install the ones from the repository?

If not, it might be worth putting a note about this possibility on the download pages.

Looking at the Fedora package change log shows the changes.  It appears as if most changes are to fix issues on Fedora specifically, so I would assume it is generally "better" to install the latest available package.

Thanks for that. I'll see what happens with the app build tomorrow after I've removed and re-installed the packages.
