Local changes in FPC source + fpcupdeluxe

A maybe stupid question (again) about FPC trunk which I got using fpcupdeluxe:
What is the easiest way to build FPC with my local changes?
Note, I don't need to download anything because I already have the latest trunk. I just need to build it.
Should I run "make cycle" in console instead of using fpcupdeluxe?

Fpcupdeluxe: setup+ gives option (checkbox) "rebuild only" ?!

BTW, all checkboxes under the Miscellaneous settings have the same hint text.
A proper hint would be useful.
