Spam and users repliyng to spam
« on: December 15, 2017, 06:02:38 am »
I recently noted an increased amount of people replying to spam messages. The reply saying something to the effect of "spam is not welcome" or "are you a spammer?".

This seems rather pointless. A spammer will neither take notice nor reply.

All that will happen is, that once the spam is removed the reply will be left in place without the context.
Even worse, if the spam was not a new topic, but instead in the middle of an existing thread, then the reply will appear as a reply to other messages in this thread (and those others are no spam).

So if you did in the past reply to spam, check if your message is now out of context.

The best you can do if you spot spam is to report it. If you are not sure if something is spam or not, or if you need to add other info for the moderator, then you can do this in the report.
