Error trying to install Indy 10
« on: September 28, 2017, 08:06:35 pm »
Hello everyone!  :D

I try to install IndyLaz 10 in Lazarus 1.6.4  :)

The Package compiles without problem, but when I try to install it I receive the error:
"lazarus.pp(154,1) Error:Error while linking".  :o

It doesn't care what version of Indy, (I try with IndyLaz versions: 10.2.0.3, 10.6.2 and 10.6.2.5434) all give me the same error.  %)

I have another computer with Lazarus 1.6 and IndyLaz 10.2.0.3 was installed here flawlessly.  ;D

Any ideas?  :(

I have Mageia 5, Lazarus 1.6.4 and FPC 3.0.2-1  ::)

Thanks for your help.  :-[

I'm afraid OPM won't help in this case. That linking error, has nothing to do with indy or any other package for that mater. It's a linux specific bug usually caused by a missing or incompatible library.

Thanks for your reply Taazz!!  :D

I have installed Online Package Manager also and it can't install IndyLaz neither.  :o

The curious thing is that IndyLaz is THE ONLY package that I can't install. All the packages that I select works without problem, even if I install them manually.  %)

The error happens when I try to rebuild the Lazarus IDE and the line that marks is the final line of lazarus.pp code.  :-\

I hear in another post of the Forum that it is not necessary to install the package. Just call the package from inside the program and it must work. But I try this solution in my other computer (The one that have installed IndyLaz) and my program compile well but send me and error in the line that try to create the Host for sending a mail if I don't put the component (If I put the component in the form it runs perfectly well).  :(

It's like if Lazarus doesn't wants the IndyLaz package.  :P

Hi GetMem!  :D

Maybe...  :-\

But the hard part is know what library could be.  %)

Perhaps I have to live without IndyLaz in this computer.  :'(

Thanks for your reply!! I'm still fighting to find a solution.  :-[

Just use the forum search. Try something like: "Error while linking", maybe it will yield something useful.

On Windows Lazarus/FPC report the specific library name if there's a linking error... is that not the case on Linux?
