After you have loaded the powerpdf.lpi, click on the Project tab, and select Project Inspector from the menu. Look at the GREEN Requirements section, if it does NOT list LCLbase, right click the Required Packages title, click on add and select LCLbase from the dialog box, and click the Create New Requirement button.

Thanks, but i cant find lclbase anywhere...so i looked at packages and found a red x on laclbase...see attached pic.

It doesnt look good but im clueless on how to fixit - i cant find lclbase to download anywhere so far.

UPDATE:  i tried reloading the powerpdf pkg  and a dialog offered to compile it so i dd that, and then of course, laz recompiled - and now the example seems to be working?

Geez i often really don't understand beloved lazarus lol

I don't know what these icons mean either, I have the red x as well, and the demos compile fine.

Did you select the demo from the "LazarusExamples" or from the "Example" folder? The latter one is for Delphi and, of course, doesn't have the Lazarus-specific requirements in the project.

I just opend the laz pk file of powerpdf - it lets u create a pdf of the documentation file.

I'll try the examples now...yup examples work now

I think that when i first tried this  package, out of ignorance, i didnt properly compile it.

im not a consistent programmer, just do a big project about once a year get burned out and don't look at lazarus again for months at a time....but when i'm in the programming mode, i pretty much do it obsessively till my project is done.

so, anyway, when i start a new programming cycle, im really cold to it all and have a big learning curve...i'm sure i owe a big apology and note of appreciation to all the hero members that frequently help me out :)

I don't know what these icons mean either, I have the red x as well, and the demos compile fine.

In the lazarus/images/packages folder the red X image is named "pkg_core_overlay.png" so I take it that the little red X merely signals that this is a core package, not that there is anything amiss with the package.
