Lazarus apps showcase website
« on: August 20, 2017, 09:53:41 pm »
Hi, I started this website on the Lazarus CCR at GitHub

https://lazarusccr.github.io/apps/

Here are showcased some of the apps made with Lazarus.

If you think is a good idea, nice! And you can help me telling me (here, on github issues, by PM, as you wish) wich apps you want to be featured, if possible provide an high resolution icon, name, description and optional tags (to feed the search box) and it will be listed in the website.

Currently I'm downloading each app listed in the lazarus application gallery and extracting the icon from it.

The idea comes from this thread, that aims to promote lazarus in different ways:
http://forum.lazarus.freepascal.org/index.php/topic,37914.msg257083/topicseen.html#new

And one of these ways is creating a website like this I did. But I can't do this alone, since I don't have currently all the platforms to test each application.

Thanks for reading!

Thanks for reading!

Some good looking icons!

Are you finding that most apps have ready-to-use installers for the platforms they support?

And what about abandonware, any way to screen out stuff that just makes things look bad?

Yes, some have installers, mostly for Windows with Inno Setup or equivalent.

And well, I'm selecting the ones are not too geeky as you suggested. But CudaText is amazing :)

I'm not sure about abandonware, but the list is dynamic, and anything can be removed easily. At least I can download and run them. If I can't run it I'm not adding it to the list.

I think, the Double Commander should be listed there (I like this app very much): https://doublecmd.sourceforge.io/
Code: [Select]
type
  TLiveSelection = (lsMoney, lsChilds, lsTime);
  TLive = Array[0..1] of TLiveSelection;

here a re couple of applications I find interesting.

https://sourceforge.net/projects/zcad/
https://sourceforge.net/projects/skychart
https://sourceforge.net/projects/virtualmoon/
https://sourceforge.net/projects/virtualplanet/
https://sourceforge.net/projects/prometerp/

zcad is actively developed and should be in the showcase, the rest decide for your self.

Thanks. I will add all of them tomorrow.

This is a great effort. Thanks.

Two suggestions:
 - It should allow me to right click on an item and select 'open in new tab' in my browser.
 - it'll be great if I can see the URL when mouse hovering on an item.
 - It'll be great if there is some license info for each entry.

Suggestion #1 is a must, in terms of UX. just my 2 cents.

Thanks. I will check every single app.

There's an app called Cheat Engine, is very popular and made with Lazarus. But his installer is full of ads (third party installations) so I not added, but if anyone interested http://www.cheatengine.org/index.php

This is a great effort. Thanks.
