RC1 to RC4?
« on: August 15, 2017, 07:08:42 pm »
I have been using 1.8-RC1 for some time and have no issues with it for what I do. I just saw that there are later RCs, so can I just over-write the current RC1installation with the three FPC and Laz with those .deb files?

Thank you.

Hi KarenT,

"RC" stands for "release candidates", so recent code released by an RC may be broken. People using RC's should report any bugs using the bug tracker. As RC's may introduce new features, they also may serve as a step-by-step transition (RC1 to RC4, for example) to the most recent release that will come eventually (1.8).

So, for my own programs I can say that transitioning from 1.6 to RC3 and RC4 has been smooth.

Thanks, I knew about RC and the risks, but just wondering how I go about installing RC-4. Do I need to un-install RC-1 first, or just drop RC-4 on top of the RC-1 installation?
