Immediately activate selection WITHOUT having to click one more time?

Assume I load an image into LazPaint.

Then I draw a rectangle selection inside the picture.

At this step I could NOT UNDO it (from menu edit).
As I found out I am forced to click one more time inside the rectangle
to be able to undo the last action.

Why?

Is there no auto-activate selection?
