Good judgement is the result of experience … Experience is the result of bad judgement.

Laz: Lazarus 1.4.4 FPC 2.6.4 i386-win32-win32/win64

Either GDB or the (external) linker can't find the external debug info. You probably have more dwarf errors....
It is not FPC or Lazarus related.
Specialize a type, not a var.

I do not use external debug info. I'll just assume you mend debug info, external or not.

OK, that is interesting, how can I see the rest of the dwarf errors?

You probably hit same bug as I : https://bugs.freepascal.org/view.php?id=31599

Do you mean debugger? Compiler should work always.

taazz : If you are really using FPC 2.6.4, then please check if FPC 3.0.2 or the release candidate of 3.0.4 helps.

that is a slippery slope, changing compilers in lazarus is not as simple as changing a number of path entries, I have to go through the defines to make sure that it will not change the compilation path to something hiding the problem. Not something I look forward to. In any case I'm going to revert back to a working point in my svn repository for now and see if that helps.
