Lazarus 1.6.4 on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS 64bit Debugger Issue

Hello All,

I just installed Lazarus 1.6.4 on Ubuntu 16.04 64bit. The install completed without errors. When I launch Lazarus, I am unable to run the default project. It will attempt to run with debugging which hangs. I am then unable to exit Lazarus. A kill -9 is required. I have tried setting up a build profile for release mode, but it still tries to run the debugger. Has anyone seen this issue?

Welcome to this forum.

I'm an Ubuntu Mate user, never had such issue. Recently many users have problem installing Lazarus on Ubuntu OS. That's strange, you may need to switch to other Linux distro. But before you do that, try complete remove and reinstall Lazarus/FPC again. Read my step-by-step procedure to perform the clean installation on this thread:

I am running lubuntu 16.10 and that doesn't have such an issue.
What is the GDB version on 16.4 ?

Hi,

The gdb version is 7.11.1. I tried running as root and it works. I think I'm just going to use fpc on the command line. It's a little less convenient, but I'm very used to that workflow. I appreciate the help.

Hi,

Hmm... It looks like fpc is a nonstarter as well. Missing units etc. I have tried both the download package and the package in the Ubuntu repo. I've also looked into building from source, but that looks really painful. I'll wait for the next release and try it again then. Thanks for your time.
