Is there already a native library that can read (and possibly display) a PDF? I saw the mupdf wrapper, but that won't work as I want to be able to edit the document.

Yes, José Mejuto emailed me an alpha version of his work in September. It managed to load and display most PDF's I threw at it. A lot of functionality was already working, but not all - the PDF file format is very complex and advanced. Either way, José has done an absolute fantastic job up to that point.

It's a couple months later now, so I don't know the progress to date. I'm sure you can contact him via the mailing lists and ask for progress and if he made his work public.
