What is the guidline to add new images to the lazarus IDE?
« on: June 29, 2016, 05:58:23 pm »
Hello,

when I want to extend some lazarus IDE functionality, and would need some new icons, what are the guidlines to do it?

If the icons are used only in the IDE and aren't exported to LCL application, you can use "Silk icon set", "Fugue icons" or "Tango icons".

If you need icons in LCL components, use only your own icons or public domain icons (e.g. from "Tango icons"). See "lcl/images/README.txt" for more info.

In r52585 I updated the policy information:
Lazarus icons: images/README.txt
LCL icons: lcl/images/README.txt

lcl/images/copyright.txt should also be updated if you add a new icon.

I would like to add some new icons to the PrecedureList IDE dialog.
In which subfolder should I put these icons. These are only 2, and are also common icons, as text_align_left and text_align_center.

Lazarus icons are in "images/" the best subfolder is probably actions.

These are only 2, and are also common icons, as text_align_left and text_align_center.
Please use icons from one of the already used packages. E.g. fugue icons: http://p.yusukekamiyamane.com/icons/search/fugue/#keyword=align
http://p.yusukekamiyamane.com/icons/search/fugue/icons/edit-alignment.png
