WIN 8.1 Loss of forms

Hi,

For some unknown reason my Win 8.1 has suddenly stopped showing Lazarus forms.  Initially this even affected compiled and installed progs.  Whilst my installed progs have spontaneously recovered. My Lazarus IDE appears OK but compiled progs have lost colour. Components appear and run with a white background.

Where do I start to restore normal function ?

Frustrated !

Any help would be appreciated.
