reporting tool
« on: February 07, 2016, 01:15:57 pm »
Today i tried to make my first report. I tested Lazreport and Fortesreport. Both work fine. Which of the 2 is maintained best and is still being developed?
I can't find how to make a graph in a report. Is that possible in one of them?

I'm not experienced with these reporting tools either, but if they don't provide a dedicated chart component, you could try to use TAChart and draw to an image file which you probably can import into the report. There are several examples in the TAChart sample folder of how to draw a chart to Bitmap, BGRABitmap, SVG, etc. See also http://wiki.lazarus.freepascal.org/TAChart_documentation#Drawers.

In a previous posting on this forum someone made charts with FortesReport.
Maybe this posting (http://forum.lazarus.freepascal.org/index.php?topic=24616.0) can help you.

This is an example of what I wrote above: The chart is drawn onto a bitmap, and this is inserted into the report.

If it still has it to be free, you have to maintain it by yourself I'm afraid.
For commercial report Fast Reports is working perfectly, but the price is not as you expected. I tested on Lazarus 1.44 Windows and it works great (Linux I still have to test it).
Lazarus 2.06 (64b) / FPC 3.0.4 / Windows 10
stucked on Delphi 10.3.1
