Errors with UeControls on Raspberry Pi

Hi,
I've been trying to install UeControls onto Lazarus/Raspberry Pi.
The package installs OK but if I try to add any of the components that represent knobs or gauges to a form I get errors saying firstly "Error creating component - Access Violation".
The error will repeat each time I click the form.
If I then select another component and add it to the form, the source code suddenly shows an instance of the "problem" component for each time the form was clicked and the error becomes for example "uEKnob1 has no parent window"
All the image components in the package work fine.

I have been able to install this package with no issues under windows.
I am a newb to both Linux & Pi so not really sure where to start looking.
