Connecting to Oracle 8i
« on: December 01, 2015, 08:40:12 am »
Good morning!

Is there any way to connect to an Oracle 8i database?

I know this database is almost 20 years old but sadly upgrading to a newer version is out of question.

Whenever i try to connect (using standard lazarus sqldb connector) to it i get the following error message:

Quote
TOracleConnection: ORA-03134: Connection to this server version are no longer supported.

I also tried connecting with TOracleConnection (component list) but i get the same result. Any input is appreciated!

hi,
besides sqldb built in support for oracle i have identified below options:
- zeos db components
- devart unidac
- mormot orm
- tiopf orm

i am using unidac with good results, connecting without an oracle client.

hope this helps
