wiki up to date?
« on: August 30, 2015, 10:43:37 am »
There is an info-page called "Custom Drawn Interface/Android" with address http://wiki.lazarus.freepascal.org/Custom_Drawn_Interface/Android

Among the info on that page is a download of a VBox image found under the headline: "Use the ready Virtual Box Image with FPC and Lazarus"

When running the virtual machine, and following the instructons, the first which happens when starting Lazarus is an error message:

compiler "/usr/bin/fps" does not support arm_linux

And from there on it turns out to look like just another dead end in Android programming!

Any suggestions?

It's a wiki so nothing prevent you to edit any outdated content you'd reach. You're actually free to write everything you want in there.

A wiki is not a garbage bin so no, one should not 'write everything in there'.
A wiki is also not a maze with only dead ends. It would be nice if what was presented in there actually can be used in some shape or form.
All posts based on: Win10 (Win64); Lazarus 2.0.10 'stable' (x64) unless specified otherwise...

Get serious! The wiki exists for the purpose of those who want to learn.

If it is edited by those who do not know it becomes totally useless.

Obviously the info in the mentioned wiki is flawed.

I have added a warning to the wiki
Object Pascal programmers should get rid of their "component fetish" especially with the non-visuals.
