Check the hot key configuration of your Language Input Selector. And set a an appropiate hot key. It is best to choose a very rare one like Ctr+Alt+Shif+something to make sure it won't disturb your work. Most IDEs use a lots of hot keys and chanses to overlap a hot key pair like Alt+Space is very easy.

Honestly, the hot key to change the Keyboard Language Input is a pain in the ass!!! In Linux and Windows!!!

Normally the OS catches the hot key before the App you are using, thus it don't allows you to use your App hot key.
So if Alt+Space don't change the Language is because it was not set or is disabled.

You can also change the keymap of the IDE, so it does not use ctrl-space.

On Windows IME should work. (you can choose between 2 levels of integration, in tools/options/editor/misc).

On other platforms the source-editor has no special IME support, and it depends on the OS adding it on top. If the OS does not, then it will not work.
