As you can see Martin_fr recommend the Additions and overrides for defining and alternate build modes. Unfortunately, I was experiencing some unstable behavior with a custom -dDEBUG define. Sometimes the directive works, sometimes not.

However, when I defined the -dDEBUG in the "Other" section, everything works fine. (and I think this is simplest way to achieve what I want, i.e., conditional compiling).

Maybe have I done something wrong?
