Help me to find a name for my program
« on: March 05, 2015, 05:58:15 pm »
Hello,

I am creating an economics engine, based on ideas proposed in this research paper. It would be a market simulation library which could be used for games or simulations.

Do you have name ideas for this library ?

MarketSim seems to be used by another software, so you could use something like MyMarketSim, replacing My with some name.

Mercatura (the latin word for trading)
function GetRandomNumber: integer; // xkcd.com

GetRandomNumber := 4; // chosen by fair dice roll. Guaranteed to be random.

Mercatura (the latin word for trading)

Bad idea

I used a latin name for one of my programs, and noone ever used it. Four years later someone makes almost the same program and calls it like (in this case) Market Library and a lot of people use it.

Guess Latin names are ungoogable

Well, and I use a Latin name for one of my programs, and it is used by thousands of people in about 100 countries.

lets be hip, lets follow the trend and become a "me too" with an attitude, name it iMarket, iSimarket, iMark, iSiMark(easy mark?). Logic dictates that you are probably better of avoiding half words if you want more and faster hits or make sure that the name is always followed by the keywords (eg "iMark market simulator") everywhere in your documents, site etc. Let the users propagate the short form of iMark in there communications or anything else they might see fit.

Good judgement is the result of experience … Experience is the result of bad judgement.
