Hi, Have searched for similar requests but not been able to make much headway so I hope someone can steer this novice in the right direction.

I've loaded Lazarus 1.2.6 and having used a bit of Delphi5 some years ago its like coming home! I'm running on Windows 7.

After compiling sdposeriallax.lpk I select 'install' and the linker works away but I do not get a component under any of the component tabs.

According to some web sites, I supposed to get a nice serial icon to place on my form and get going, what am I doing wrong?

You should "compile", wait until compilation is finished, then click "install". After while Lazarus should restart and new tab "SdpoSerial" should appear there.
Lazarus 2.3.0 (rev main-2_3-2863...) FPC 3.3.1 x86_64-linux-qt Chakra, Qt 4.8.7/5.13.2, Plasma 5.17.3
Lazarus 1.8.2 r57369 FPC 3.0.4 i386-win32-win32/win64 Wine 3.21

Try Eye-Candy Controls: https://sourceforge.net/projects/eccontrols/files/

once my lazarus jammed on install process. I delete "..user's\AppData\lazarus" folder and restart lazarus  :) and than reinstall pack. ...for me that's fix problem.
fpc 2.6.4 | linux mint 17 | lazarus 1.2.6
