Tools menu reorganisation in trunk
« on: September 14, 2014, 01:55:18 pm »
The rationalisation of Delphi-related menu options into a Tools submenu is a welcome minor improvement.
Should it be called "Delphi and Encoding conversion" rather than just "Delphi Conversion", though, since not all conversions of non-utf8 sources will arise only from Delphi code?

Also, is it time to do something similar with the various Select items in the Edit menu; the various Find and Jump items in the Search menu; and the Insert items in the Source menu? Or do people prefer long first-level menu listings?

"Delphi and Encoding conversion" sounds a bit long/awkward but I agree with your reasoning.

Re edit/select ...: no opinion really, I never to rarely use them.

Re Source/Insert: I like those as is as the menu isn't overly long for me. Having to navigate a nested hierarchy (insert general and insert csv already have submenus) doesn't really appeal either.

I don't have any opinion as I use editortoolbar, and put all my common used menu items on there.
Guess what I'd like to see is an icon for each menu item.  The refactoring submenu's don't have icons, so I don't put them on the toolbar.  Mind you, for those I use the right click in the source code window, so not sure if I'd put them on the editortoolbar anyway...
