Price for IDF->STEP214 or STL converter. (Done)
« on: August 05, 2014, 01:55:57 am »
Hi
I are using the (electric CAD) DesignSpark PCB 6.0 and it can do 3D output but in the "stupid" IDF format as my (mechanic CAD) Geomagic Design CAD not can read/import.

The converter tool shall read in the IDF files and write out the STEP214 or STL files, it are all it shall do.

So how much will it cost if some of you make this converter tool?

Please write your offer here:

If I understand correctly, you have IDF files generated by DesignSpark and would like to convert them to STEP214 or STL.

Why dont you use FreeCad ?
It can import IDF and can export in STL format.  :-X

Are you sure that you have read this?

http://www.rs-online.com/designspark/electronics/eng/tutorial/exporting-designs-from-designspark-pcb-to-mechanical-cad

Especially:

"Importing IDF files to 3D CAD software

In your Mechanical CAD software browse to the DSPCB design folder (if you saved the IDF from DSPCB in default location) and navigate to [projectname].idb file. Click Open to import the file.

Note: the .idl file is use to store the component library data, this is where component heights are kept. This file is by default saved to the same folder as the .idb file. Both files should be kept in the same folder for correct import."

And Geomagic Design say: "Unsupported file format" after follow the text on the link.

I have installed the plugin and have IDF file type in the open dialogue window now, but it is for *.emn and the Geomagic Design put out 2 files (*.idb and *.idl)

AFAICS, DesighSpark provides a free Mechanical version of the software, have you tried that?
