Formally yes, but in this special case, 2.6.2 seems to still work. But nobody says you need to compile it on ARM using the ARM compiler.
I'm working on a project and compiling on ARM I have a problem when I use the -fPIC parameter.
I discovered that the bug has been fixed in the trunk version 2.7.1 ...
http://bugs.freepascal.org/view.php?id=19729then I decided to try to install the trunk on raspberry.
To compile from source is the only way to have the trunk on arm, am I wrong?
The main issue to watch out for is that there is not one universal "ARM" version, like there is an fairly universal "i386-linux" or "x86_64-linux" release for those targets.
Also that 2.6.2 release might not be what you think it is (e.g. it doesn't run on raspberry pi with raspbian)
Ok, success is not granted.
I am trying to install on a raspberry with a gentoo installed by hand.
It would be really nice if I could compile that project with-fPIC on ARM.
ll Let you know if I can
