The new page is online as many have already noticed. Thanks for the feedback.

It is based on work of nsunny. Some factual and language errors were fixed.
I added a wiki page. Please improve it if needed.
 http://wiki.freepascal.org/WebPageDevelopment

The links for latest download version is already fixed in SVN (and in test server).
More improvements will be done. For example still not all texts are completely correct.

There is the competing page project done with Pascal + Brook framework.
If it becomes very good in future, nothings prevents us using it instead.  However it is not an issue now.  Both the Brook framework and the page are new and will require lots of testing (and time) before they are good and reliable.

Let's make the current page as good as possible.
Patches are welcome. :)

New page looks great and is a big improvement over the old one.

"There is the competing page project done with Pascal + Brook framework"

is there a link to the Brook Framework page?  Wouldn't mind checking it out as I like the brook framework.

Great job to everyone involved :-)

I love the stylish new website but may I make a suggestion?
On the homepage there is a tip of the day, which I think could benefit from a link to some webpage devoted to that tip. Now I read something about for instance an editor toolbar with very little text explaining it. A special editor toolbar page explaining this toolbar and how to install it and invoke would be a great help.
As a teaser the tip of the day is great but a visitor should be able to follow up on this tip and get more info if needed.
But all in all the new look is definitely a pretty visiting card for Lazarus, great job!

1) Congratulations the page is even better than the first draft. Very well done.

Now let me add 2 observations.
1) the home link on the forums does not take you to the new page it still gos to the old one. I Don't know if it is intended that way or not.
2) the recent announcements portion of the page seems a bit odd to me it would be better if it was ordered by the date of the announcement now it lists the release of 1.0.6 as first announcement instead of the release of 1.0.10 which I would expect to be first.

If anything else pops out to me I'll let you know.

It is good to see the new page running. This has always been my concern for this project since I first came across Lazarus in 2009. It is great to have a formal, informative homepage to at least describe what Lazarus is and what it does. Plus a download link right in the homepage was an absolute necessity which was missing in the previous version. I feel good to see these working, plus, designing the homepage for my own favorite IDE was something special.

I have created the script. I have tried to keep it as simple as possible, especially for the people inexperienced of the web development/HTML/PHP codes to update its content. Thanks to the forum members for feedback and guys who improved my code... Martin, marc and others. Thanks to Juha for communicating me and giving important new ideas to improve the website.

Although the site needs more effort, design-wise and content-wise but I hope it will be improved day by day. Especially the font size, font family, font color, spacing, arrangements of elements, lack of graphical elements would need special care. And, as a creator, it is always hard to guess what's not working on a website. As a website developer, I have learned that feedback can do a huge favor to improve design and to make it more user friendly.

I am always here to help the project as much as I can. Also, good luck to the Lazarus dev team. Thanks again for making such a good IDE so that people can have a problem-free simple cross-platform solution for application development.

The link (http://rimrocksoftware.com/node/2) to gdvdslides in the 'Tip of the day' is broken.

http://freecode.com/projects/gdvdslides appears to be where it is available.

If this is correct, I'll add the link to the Lazarus Application Gallery.
