CHM Help, Windows
« on: July 09, 2013, 03:58:06 pm »
Hello, I'm not sure if this is worth reporting. On the "Installing Help" page - http://wiki.freepascal.org/Installing_Help_in_the_IDE - it only says that:

Quote
The installer or package may have already set up help for you

...so there clearly isn't an expectation at present that help files will necessarily be up and fully functioning after an installation. On my freshly added Lazarus 1.0.10 install, the settings for paths and so on to the CHM files (which are built - lcl.chm and fcl.chm are both there, lhelp.exe exists, chmhelppkg is installed) are not set.

All of the pre-requisites are in place, but the paths are missing.

EDIT: having followed all of the steps on the Wiki page, double-checked that all required files are available and added the file paths, F1 does not invoke Help (WinXP SP3). I've also confirmed that the correct key mapping is set (for context sensitive help). F1 *does* invoke Help on the same system in Delphi (it's a VMWare virtual machine).

1. CHM help is present by default in current development versions. It's just apparently not enabled by default in 1.0.10
2. No idea why you don't get help when pressing F1. Works for me with 1.0.10 x86 (on Win 7).
