Issue on startup?
« on: July 23, 2012, 06:25:19 pm »
Hi I just installed from USC, and I had all of the add-ons checked., so I should have received free pascal.  But on startup I get the following message:

The current Free Pascal source directory "/usr/share/fpcsrc//"
does not look correct.
Choose Ok to choose the default "".
Otherwise check Environment -> Environment Options -> Files

Anyone?

Why don't you try to confirm what the IDE said? Do you install or save fpc source in /usr/share/fpcsrc// (the double slash doesn't look good for me)?

Thanks for replying.

I checked and there's no /usr/share/fpcsrc/ directory.

Could you recommend the best source for it.

Thank you.

If you install from a repository, there should be fpc-source package that contains the source code of fpc. Install that and point the IDE to the installation directory, it should have at least packages and rtl directories (the full source also contains compiler, ide, utils, etc.)

Should I delete what I have first?  I hate purging in case there are dependencies that go along with it.

I don't know, what distro are you using? Or better, what package management? I don't know what USC stands for and how it handles dependencies.

hmm... so it should indeed contains fpc-source as dependencies. You don't have to uninstall, try searching for fpc-source package in USC, if it exists, install. The default location should be /usr/share/fpcsrc as the IDE first pointed as default value.
